Weekend Fun - Another State Capital!

Slept in- another windy day – sun out but wind chilly.  Summer walking duty all of us went together, it was fun.  D and his shopping sprees – he knew we were not ready to leave yet so he wanted to take out to shop for some new jeans at the Buckle.  He brought 3 pairs of jeans but one pair was really old and he blew the crotch out one day hooking up the RV hoses.  So a new pair is probably not a bad idea – but I know him at the Buckle alone – it won’t be just 1 pair of jeans!   He found one about 20 minutes away and was eager to go.  So off he went.  We took our time gearing up for our outing upon Dawson's return.  Successful shopping spree - 2 pairs of jeans and a new jacket!

Kids played and went up to the campground office/ store and bought passport book for their “penny souviners” collection they are making at the museums.  With kids helping, we made lunch for everyone to pack for the day.  Cleaned up / packed up, walked Summer one more time and headed out on another Family adventure.  Today’s destination – the capital of Maryland……Annapolis.  It was about a 40- 50 minute drive and the girls had fallen asleep.  Navy football game in town – tailgaiters and people walking everywhere to get to the game.  Once the game started it settled down and felt like we had the place to our selves briefly. I was fun to walk along the water but it was chilly.

Annapolis is a very historic and quaint town.  We went to the Naval Academy to visit and walk around.  It was a brisk day not as warm as yesterday.  It brought back memories of my brother, Trig and his time served in the Navy.  I really recalled his boot camp graduation that my sister and I attended to see him in Chicago - so bitter sweet and so very emotional.  I shared my stories and memories of that day with my kids.  They now have lots of new questions for you Uncle Trig!
We did walk out on some of the street fronts, houses and shops.  It was very old school and gave us a feel of the early colonial days and what it was like.  These homes and buildings are from the 1700's - so cool.  We got cold and the traffic and people around town was getting crazy as the football game was almost over.  So we decided to head home to be with Summer, have a family dinner and watch our Red Box movie - Disney's "Inside Out".

The movie was brilliant - and focused on emotions.....maybe a new way to talk to Franki and her crazy emotions.  It was fun and made you think - even a little touching for Dawson and I.  He really enjoyed the movie and with them being from Minnesota - it hit even closer to home.  Very fun and well done movie.    Dawson returned it when we were done.
Charlie and Kaia – had come down in middle of the movie – said we would come find them when movie was done.  They were lights out when the kids went down there – which was probably good.  We stayed up with them on Friday night until 1.  Everyone was beyond tired.  Especially me.

Long day…..kids were tired and although the sun was out – the wind was cold and bitter.  Lots of laughter, some sibling rivalry, all in all decent blessed day.   And another state capital to add to our book - Annapolis, Maryland.  Thanks Shane who we met at the zoo yesterday for encouraging us to visit this historic place of Annapolis!  So much history here, worth our energy!

"Come on, group hug!  You too, Anger!" quoted from movie:  Inside Out.
