Happy 70th Birthday Papa JR!!! We love and miss you and as the family gathers today to celebrate YOU know we will be there in spirit!
We got up around 7:45 or 8 am. Hung out – ate breakfast. Summer and I headed out for a walk….the weather is amazing already this am and it is warm – much better as there really isn’t much wind today. Compared to what it was like on Saturday – it feels amazing. We returned to the RV to Dawson jumping rope outside. We made lunches and got organized to head out for the day. Destination for the kids - Spy Museum with Lauren. Took kids to meet Lauren at the International Spy Museum and Dawson and I enjoying an afternoon to ourselves! What shall we do?
First, we headed to Arlington, see the house that Dawson’s parents lived in when they lived here and Dawson's dad was in the Navy. In fact, Dawson’s lovely sister, Kass was born while they lived here and this is the first home that she lived in as and infant. We were texting back and forth with his parents and sending photos. This is probably TMI but Kathie, D's mom types back "this is where you were conceived". To funny. It was a quaint little house in a cool neighborhood and while we were still parked out front Dawson even got to meet the owner, Dave. He showed up with his 2 kids. He rents out the house both the downstairs and upstairs. Nice guy - he mentioned how often people stop by that "use to live in the house",
Next Dawson and I decided to head to Arlington National Cemetary – Saw JF Kennedy and his family’s graves and took in the tomb of the unknown soldiers and saw the changing of the guards. It was amazing and to think they they have honor guarded that tomb everyday all day since 1937. We enjoyed the lovely weather and our peaceful time in the cemetary. We did a lot of walking and took videos to show the kids. They would have complained about the hills and the walk and having to be quiet. It was a little strange to not have them with us though and we commented on it several times.
We then went into Old Towne Alexandria and walked around – we ended up at Murphy’s Irish Pub to catch a little Sunday football and have some dinner. Heather Wolf - thanks for the great suggestion to come to Murphy's. I finally texted to check on kids - they were getting ready to eat lunch. They were going to take the subway to come this way to meet us then Lauren realized that they were working on the tracks and it would take them an hour to get there. So we decided when we were done that we would go get them. We wound up or evening of "alone time" and paid our bill.
We went back to get the kids and then take Lauren home. They ate at PI Pizza and had a great time with Lauren. They loved her and the spy museum.
Back to RV to make a camp fire – and we enjoyed the company of Tara and Dan and their kids. It is really nice to hang out with another family. Smores at our RV...Cheers to a great day!
Lauren - thank you for hanging out with our kids all day! You are one special lady!!
Cheers,
