Up D left early, really early! Thanks so much Steve for picking him up and taking him to the airport! I really appreciate it! And so do the kids – they would not have enjoyed a car ride to the airport that early. Appreciate you and are grateful for your generosity!
Raining still when we got up this am – took me a while to fall back asleep after Dawson got up and left but I did. The kids slept until about 8:30 then they got up to eat breakfast. I walked Summer in the rain that morning! And when I got back I got the kids going with school. I let them know the sooner we could get all our stuff done the sooner we could head over to see Lisa, Dori and Morris. They did pretty well this am. Q took Summer out a few times during the morning when the rain let up. He got through all his book work and girls were close to getting done. I told them they could all do Kahn Academy while at the Morrison’s house.
While they were finishing up school – I started to pack up some things to take to the Morrison’s. We brought our books, computer, a little bit of laundry that we had from the past week….not to bad and some toiletries and loaded up the car. We got Summer’s stuff too to take – food, water bowl and a few toys. Lisa told us her yard was fenced in so Summer could enjoy it – if it stops raining!!!
Once we were all done and cleaned up and ready to go – we headed out to see Dori – yeah said the kids! They were so excited. They like Lisa, Dori and Morris! We had about a 20-25 minute ride to their house and it was raining hard over by our camp ground. It stopped raining by the time we got to Lisa’s….but still looked like it might keep going. It was a great day to be inside. When we got to their house, Dori and Lisa greeted us at the door. Their house is so homey and was all decorated for Christmas which was really fun. We don’t have decorations yet – but we will get some in Florida.
Dori was so excited to have the kids come play and she immediately took all 3 of them to her toy room. They all climbed into her small princess tent as she pulled them in by their arms. She is so cute and loves her tents or houses as she calls it. “Coming” she says as she pulls you in. After some play time and Lisa showing us around the house we settled in and talked about doing crafts or having some lunch. Lisa had made some mini chicken pot pies for lunch. They were really good. We all kind of ate in shifts as Dori was so excited and wanted at least one kiddo with her in the play room at all times.
Mena was ready for crafts – she misses all her art supplies at home and making big messes on the kitchen table. Well, today Mena, I believe it will be a lot like home – girl! We started with some Christmas ornaments that Lisa bought for them to paint. It was super fun and they all did a great job. The girls added glitter to various places on their ornaments – it was a fun and creative way to make them sparkle.
They all did their ornaments and then a few of them took a break. We did some various holiday paintings using our hands and feet. They turned out really cute. Mena and Dori – got all painted on as we did their hands and feet. Too fun. Lisa had a few pinterest ideas to make the hands and feet into various holiday things as you paint. Very fun ideas. I just can NOT believe how big my babies hands and feet are now….especially as I see Dori – I remember my lil Mena like that too! And now she is 8 – total craziness!
After some art work (and after the cake was done baking that Lisa put in the oven right as we pulled up) she asked my girls if they wanted to do a little baking. Oh course the answer was, YES! They love to cook and be in the kitchen and especially to make cookies and lick the bowls.
They made chocolate chip cookies and an all chocolate cookie too. I helped to put them in and take them out of the oven when they were done. Yummy cookies!!! Especially warm. A warm cookie always reminds me of my days at my first job in high school – when I worked for the Great American Chocolate Chip Cookie Company. Loved eating warm cookies that just melt in your mouth.
After the cookies were done I decide to go out to the car and get the laundry hamper that I brought over. I only did 2 regular to light loads today – rather than my 6 or so at Carla’s. It was only clothes today – no sheets or towels yet.
The kids played and watched movies or cartoons with Dori. Franki went to lay down with Dori to rest and see if she would fall asleep. She stayed up there a while but Dori never went to sleep.
It was so amazing to be at home with them all day – the kids enjoyed the extra space, the couches, blankets and cookies. They would keep going back to the art table too to start another painting or two. Mena did the most art work – just like at our house!
We had a very relaxing and enjoyable afternoon with Lisa and Dori. Lisa then started dinner that evening and Morris rapped up his day and joined us. Dawson had texted that he had made it to San Fran……he will be tired later but said he was ok so far. I am so glad he is there safely.
At dinner we had a pre-birthday celebration for Morris – using the cake Lisa had made earlier in the day. It was our desert and it was good. After dinner we were going to have showers for all the Fercho kids. It will be nice to have everyone clean at one time – not like in the RV where we rotate each night. Mena was excited because she was going to take a bath and could not wait! It was a Fercho kids shower rally – and everyone was nice and clean and smelled good all on the same night! So nice to be in a home to do that tonight.
All the kids were cleaned up for the night. They hung out with Morris while Lisa and I walked Summer around the block. When we got back to the house, it was movie time! Polar Express to kick off the Holiday Season and hot chocolate by Morris – tasty treat!!! The kids were all glued to the tv even baby Dori loved the Polar Express. It was a fun enjoyable and relaxing night!
Great people, good food, and awesome family fun! The Morrison’s have a beautiful home and sweet little girl – and they were so welcoming – it was a great day. And we were all going to sleep in a bed tonight! The Fercho’s had 3 rooms to share and spread out in!! We were so excited. Mena took Dori’s double bed. I had the queen bed in the guest room with bathroom and Franki got the king bed in the other guest room with the bathroom in the hallway. It was awesome – Q was going to sleep with me and Summer would be on the floor by me. Mena fell asleep super fast, she was so comfy in Dori’s disney sheets. Franki was a little scared with the big bed all to herself so Q and I went to lay with her. They both feel asleep – fairly fast. Q was going to get up and come back in with me but he wouldn’t wake up so I left him in the big bed with Franki. I had the queen to myself…..it was lovely! And wow- Lisa’s sheets on the seashore bed were so super soft!!! I even had to ask her about them later so I can buy some for the RV or our house. The kids even said how awesome they were.
Dawson called me as I was ready to go to sleep myself. He was in a good mood and “feeling full of God’s love” as he was reflecting on our entire trip so far. I am glad that he is feeling good about it all still and he is happy with what we are doing! He is feeling happy in San Fran tonight! And he gets a nice hotel room to himself tonight.
I miss him! We miss him! But I am so grateful to him for all he is doing to provide for us while making this trip a reality. He is amazing! We love you – D!!
Good night all – from Charlotte!
Sweet dreams……
