It’s Halloween and the girls woke up wanting to know how many hours until they get to trick or treat! Oh my the excitement and energy of Halloween for little kids – pretty priceless. We got up and ate breakfast that the girls made – scrambled eggs and toast. It was yummy and they had some cereal too. I took Summer for a long morning walk scouting out the neighborhoods for some good trick or treating for the kids. They trick or treat from 6 to 8 in this community …..and the girls didn’t know if they could even wait that long.
We decided daddy was in charge of the days adventures around Cinncinnati. He talked to his aunt and uncle about fun things to do and looked some things up online and we headed out. We were driving on the fun hilly roads around Deb’s neighborhood and jumped on the highway to head to the city. I guess Mena didn’t realize we here going to the city and while we were on the highway – we came to a steep grade slope down and once we got headed down you could see the view of Cinncinnati. It was awesome. But Mena says, “oh no, not another city”! She has decided that the city is too big for her and she doesn’t love it. It was just really cute and really funny and we all talked.
Our first stop was the “John A Roebling Bridge” - it was built in and it is a bridge that was made by the guy that made the Brooklyn Bridge. It was a test bridge that they did prior to the Brooklyn Bridge. It was fun to drive across – one side Ohio the other Kentucky. We parked and walked over it and then played at a park on the Ohio side that was awesome! It was overcast but still decent weather. We had lunch and then drove around and saw the stadiums and various sites downtown.
Dawson wanted to the Underground Railroad Museum but the kids were hungry and wanted to eat and also were too excited for Halloween to focus at a museum. So we crossed back over the bridge on foot and had lunch. We then went to the Harriett Beecher Stowe house. She was the author of Uncle Tom’s Cabin. We got there just as they were wrapping up tours for the day but a very nice man that was touring folks gave a brief rundown of the seminary and some history on Harriett, her family and what was going on in Ohio at that time. It was interesting. We then decided to head back to Deborah’s house.
When we returned back to their house – I finished our laundry (4 loads of it in all) and then took Summer on another short walk down the street and back. Oh, we also watched horse racing history as American Pharroha won his 4th race making him a grand slam winner by taking the Breeder’s Cup. That was a fun 5 minutes.
The girls were ready to get in their costumes. They were crazy excited. I walked Summer after leaving her for the day with the Neumann’s. Once Summer and I came back in the house I told the girls to go ahead and get ready for trick or treating! Deborah made a mexican gumbo for dinner but the Fercho’s decided we would trick or treat and then eat.
So off we went- the hooded huntress, the pirate, bat dad and Summer and I. Quinten put his horse mask on and hung out with Chris but decided not to trick or treat. He said he missed his friends and wanted to play fifa instead.
We enjoyed meeting Deb’s super nice next door neighbors (Lyda & Denny) and other neighbors in the adjoining neighborhoods. Summer got a few treats from dog lovers homes and Dawson and I even got a bud light as our treat from some fun neighbors. We had a great time and although it was different than trick or treating at home – we will always remember the RV trip and the Halloween we spent trick or treating in Villa Hills, Kentucky at Aunt Deb’s house.
The girls were very excited about all their candy and I am not sure they ever really ate any dinner but Dawson and I did and the mexican gumbo – it was awesome! Next up ……our boys in blue playing ball in New York. They got off to a rough start but came back to win 5 to 3! I had developed a pretty bad headache so I had to go lay down but I did here some cheering that lead me to believe that we were finally ahead.
I’m not really sure what time everyone came up to bed – I think it was late but my head was pounding so bad I couldn’t move. I waited way to late to take asprin and I paid for it for sure.
Well, another Halloween in the books and another Royal WIN!!
