Dawson got up early to get off to work around 8. The kids and I all woke up too but stayed curled up until about 8:45. We got up and ate – the kids were excited that I had bought chocolate chip muffins last night and new cereals. We pulled up our advent study and looked over the paragraph and decided we would all walk Summer together around the entire lake here at the Pink Flamingo Lake RV park and check it all out together. As we walk, I wanted them all to reflect on the advent study for today so we could journal when we got back.
Something happened with the girls and they got irritated with one another and that set Franki into her tailspin of a bad mood. I took a deep breathe and tried to ignore them as well as remain positive and see if it would end naturally. It was a beautiful morning and crystal clear blue sky – the reflections on the lake were awesome. Mena caught a lizard with her bare hands when we were across the lake on one of the beaches. She is funny….it was small green one but I was surprised she got it with how fast they seem to be.
They kids were not wanting to dive into the school work ……but we did anyway. Franki wanted to do her work alone in the back room….she was in a negative mood. Our wifi connection here is not good so we will not be doing our online work this week. It might be awhile before we have good internet again. UGH!!!!
I hope I can keep the blog up to date …..but it is going to be a challenge if wifi isn’t good.
Anyway, I am fighting a cold so although it feels good here and I am feeling better – my head is stopped up and I don’t have my usual energy. So as we wrapped up school around noon……I was not sure if I wanted to take on any major adventure. There is a lot to do here in Jacksonville but it is big and spread out and the camp is nice hanging by the lake here too. Mena and Q were out and had caught several more lizards and even a tree frog. They love the adventure of being outside. Franki and I walked down to the beach on our side of the lake to see how the water felt. Franki decided it was too cold to swim in even though our camp escort yesterday said someone swam in it before we got here yesterday. I felt it and I think it is too cold to swim in….she agreed. So we wrote in the sand and made our footprints and decided to just hang out. I was tired and it might be a good idea to get the laundry done here before we move to the state park on Sunday. So Franki and I gathered all our laundry – sorted it into the hampers by loads we would do and loaded up the laundry in the van to head to the laundry mat. We called Dorie and Myron – Franki talked to them until the phone quit working – I think it was on their end. When we tried calling them back it was busy. Call would not go through, so we called Nona to check on her and Finn and see how much mail we have. It was good to talk to her – they have had nice weather and have gotten to play outside some this week – even going to a park or two. We miss you both very much.
Finn take care of your daddy…….sorry to hear what is going on with Cody and Kaycee....heartbreaking. Praying they will work it out over time......especially for Finn man!
It took Franki and I awhile at the laundry house – we played cards, met some nice people that were going to surprise their family tonight – 2 daughters and a son in law and their 4 grand daughters. They were excited. They have not seen their kids for a year and half and they know they were coming but not until next week. They are back early and were excited to surprise them. Too fun.
Dawson worked out and Mena and Q hung out by the recreation building catching more lizards. They are too funny. Once we all got done and put all our clean clothes and towels away…..we needed to return Dawson’s car rental. It was a good family outing and the sky was awesome as the sun set for the day. We made hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner and the kids even cleaned up the dishes.
They had one more thing to do to wrap up the school week – state reports. Mena did North Caroline, Franki did South Carolina and Q reported out on Georgia. It was very fun and they all did a fabulous job. We all learn so much from the state reports. I am so proud of them when I see them report out all they have learned about their state. We use different methods of collecting data including what we learn by being in each state. They really did a great job and got pretty into it. Super fun to do and watch the reports. Franki is really learning the states and capitals …….we will continue to work on them. My kids really are great and those reports were so awesome! My heart is full.
After state reports – Q went to lay on my bed where I had put my pc and the external drive Dawson and I load photos - I put them on the bed to clear off the table for dinner. I was hoping that wifi would be better later and that I could load up the blog some – bad mistake…..either Q or when Mena jumped up on him on the bed….anyway my pc screen colapsed onto the hard drive that I sat on the keyboard and whayla…..another electronic screen – broken!!!! My screen is broke and looks like a fabulous piece of art!!! UGH……….take me away…..but wait I have no bath tub and no calgon!!!! And I am away….far away …….I should have taken the time to put it away properly or at least not on the bed….but I was cooking and putting away school books and the pc needed a quick place where I could try again after dinner. They were outside all afternoon – so I thought the back bed room would be safe.
Anyway, I can’t sweat the small stuff and am hopeful we can replace screen and just move on. I knew better and I will know even better next time. Dawson brought a giant screen for some reason so I will use that until we get this laptop fixed. It really is crazy and on the road way too much……but I am thankful right now to have it!
Let’s go to bed so we can all be rested to enjoy our first Saturday in Florida together!
Here’s to palm trees and sandy beaches for Christmas!
Awaiting HIS arrival!
